Pigdon Prevails!

Rising star Tyler Pigdon (Pigdon Race Team) has continued his brilliant start to the season, charging to another victory in tonight’s Junior Formula 500 feature race at the Perth Motorplex!

Pigdon wasted no time when the lights went green in the feature race, sweeping around the outside of Max Lang (Max Lang Racing) to grab the race lead, with Leah Heeps (Leah Heeps Motorsport) following him through to slot into second.

Lang quickly found himself under attack from Mason Whitehead (Whitehead Racing), the pair closing rapidly on Heeps as Pigdon began stretching his legs out front.

On lap four, Lang made a determined dive underneath Heeps as they entered turn one, briefly nosing ahead before Heeps hit back strongly on the outside to reclaim the position.

Whitehead remained glued to their tail tanks, waiting for the slightest mistake in what was becoming one of the battles of the night.

At halfway, Pigdon held a margin of just under two seconds while behind him the Heeps–Lang–Whitehead scrap intensified. Lang switched to the high line, Heeps dropped low, and still they ran side-by-side without giving an inch.

However, back up front and out in clean air, Pigdon was flawless. With one lap to go he was well clear, and despite the efforts of those behind him, the order remained unchanged as he raced to the chequered flag and another memorable win.

Heeps put in an epic drive to come home second while Lang rounded out the top three.

Congratulations also to the four rookie drivers who contested the night, getting laps under their belts.

The Junior Formula 500’s now have a decent break to get ready for the next show at Esperance in late January.
