Ellement Extends His Legacy
Western Australian Formula 500 superstar Steven Ellement (Steven Ellement Motorsport) has once again proven why he is the winningest driver in Motorplex history, storming to another feature race victory tonight at the Perth Motorplex and extending his all-time record in style.
The feature race began with the returning Chris Dymock (Dymock Motorsport) initially launching best as the race went green with Matt Brown (Pope Racing) in tow, but it was Todd Broadwood who put the moves on quickly as he used the highline to battle with the leaders, only for it to be undone moments later when the yellow lights flashed for a complete restart.
On the second attempt, Brown surged to the front while Ellement muscled his way into second, Dymock settling neatly into third. Unfortunately, just two laps in, an incident for Debbie Garland (Woodys Racing) in turn one brought the field back under yellows.
The restart was no calmer: David Sinagra (Sinagra Motorsport) spun as the field charged to green, leaving Alvin McKavanagh with nowhere to go as he made heavy contact, forcing yet another restart.
And then Ellement pounced.
Catching Brown on the restart, Ellement blasted into the lead, immediately setting the pace and daring the field to keep up. Brown gave chase, but soon had bigger problems as Dymock closed in with intent, sweeping past on lap seven to take over second place. Logan Harris (LSJ Motorsports), meanwhile, had charged into fourth and was rapidly catching the podium battle.
As the attrition rate soared and the infield filled with wounded cars, Ellement remained untouchable. Pulling away he controlled the final laps and powered to yet another victory, adding one more chapter to his ever-growing legacy.
Dymock and Brown completed the podium after surviving a bruising 15-lap affair, while Harris and Todd Pages (Pages Motorsport) rounded out the top five.
The Formula 500’s now have a break for the festive season, but the next show will be a big one, as they are part of the huge High Limit International show at the Motorplex on December 30!
