Formula 500s Western Australia
Ready to Fire!
The FAST Series returns to the Perth Motorplex to night for its third outing of the season, bringing another strong 16-car field of Opal Finance Home Loans Formula 500s to the high banks. With momentum building and the championship picture starting to take shape, the racing is set to be intense from the very first green flag.
Brendon Marshman (Opal Finance F500 Racing) arrives as the points leader after a consistent start to his campaign, though the man who broke through for the feature race win in the second round (after the first round was rained out after just one heat race) Jeff Ross will be fighting hard to make it two in a row.
Ross was at practice on Wednesday night dialing the car in and he could be well placed to go back-to-back.
Joining him at practice was Debbie Garland (Woodys Racing), who currently sits second overall in the championship and has shown some impressive early season form. Logan Harris (LSJ Motorsports) sits third overall in the FAST Friday points and after a strong start will be hoping to maintain, if not improve on, his results.
A strong field of names have also nominated, with drivers the ilk of Steven Ellement (Steven Ellement Motorsport), Matt Brown (Pope Racing) and David Sinagra (Sinagra Motorsport) all throwing their hats in the ring for a Friday showdown. They will be joined by Chris Dymock (Dymock Motorsport), making his first start in Formula 500's in quite a while and keen to knock off some of the rust and return to his race winning ways.
They’ll be joined by a quality lineup including Todd Broadwood, Dylan and Tyler Sutherland (Sutho Motorsports), who have both started to really pick up the pace, and the impressive Rod Jamieson (Rod Jamieson Motorsport ) amongst many others.
With a mix of seasoned performers and fresh challengers, the field promises side-by-side action all evening.
As the third FAST show of the season, Friday marks an important turning point: an opportunity for Marshman to strengthen his lead, or for Garland, Harris and the chasing pack to reel him in. One thing is guaranteed: with this group, the pace will be hot.
The FAST Series fires up at the Perth Motorplex this Friday night: don’t miss it!
