Formula 500s Western Australia
Good field for Friday!
The Junior Formula 500s return to the Perth Motorplex tonight for their third FAST Friday appearance of the season, with eight young chargers ready to put on another exciting show.
Tyler Pigdon (Pigdon Race Team) heads in with the early points lead after a brilliant victory in the second round, adding to the heat race victory he scored in the opening round before it was rained out.
After some tough luck on a trip over East, Pigdon cut some laps at practice on Wednesday night and appears to have put the gremlins behind him, so should be ready to fire once more.
Sitting second in the FAST points is Max Lang (Max Lang Racing), who impressed with strong speed in the opening rounds and will be eager to close the gap and apply pressure to Pigdon across the night’s heats and feature. Fresh off two podium finishes in Adelaide, he is full of confidence and would love to finish the night standing on the top step of the podium.
Rookie Brax Condren (Condren Motorsport) has also made an immediate impact, currently holding third in the standings after a confident debut run. He’ll be looking to continue that form against a talented field that includes fellow rookie Bree Mears (@MearsRacing), and the more experienced drivers in Mason Whitehead (Whitehead Racing) and Leah Heeps (Leah Heeps Motorsport).
This week also sees two fresh faces joining the division, with Molly Green and Robert Samwell (Samwell Family Racing) making their Junior Formula 500 debuts. Both are set for an important first outing as they learn the ropes and mix it up with their fellow competitors.
With the points picture beginning to form and several drivers eager to make a statement, tonight promises another dose of close racing and future-star potential from the Junior Formula 500s.
