Max Kicks off with a Win!
Max Lang (Max Lang Racing) this weekend got his 2025/26 Junior Formula 500 campaign off to the best possible start as he claimed the win at Geraldton City Speedway in the opening round of the Roadline Civil Contractors West Coast Series presented by Precise Suspensions & Automotive.
Lang claimed two heat wins from a possible three to open his season campaign, finishing second in the other to lock away a pole position start in the feature.
Deegan Wood (Woodys Racing) continued his impressive form to claim the other heat win and would finish second in the other two to join Lang on the front row for the fifteen-lap main event. Brax Condren (Condren Motorsport) and Tyler Pigdon (Pigdon Race Team) would share the second row while Raff Frisina (RF Motorsport) and Leah Heeps (Leah Heeps Motorsport) would start from the back, with only Mason Whitehead (Whitehead Racing) unable to make the cal.
As the race went green Lang was immediately into the lead with Wood locking into second and rookie driver Condren, in just his first night of Junior Formula 500 competition, slotted into third.
Condren would apply the pressure and got past Wood to take second, but it would only last a lap, a small mistake in turns three and four allowing Tyler Pigdon to race through and become the third driver of the race to hold down second place.
Lang would continue to hold strong at the front, pulling away from the rest of the pack and even a yellow light stoppage for a spun car didn’t stop his momentum, able to maintain the point as the race went back under green flag conditions.
Unfortunately Heeps would retire infield during the stoppage.
Pigdon did all he could to stay with Lang whilst also holding off the advances of Wood as the race resumed, the top two able to gap the rest of the field, but try as he may Pigdon was unable to get by, Lang going on to claim the win from Pigdon and Wood, with Frisina able to recover from the earlier spin to take fourth while Condren rounded out the five finishers.
Teams now have just a few days before their next show, the Junior Formula 500’s forming part of the FAST Friday show at the Perth Motorplex.
