Man on a Mission

For the past few seasons Jeff Ross has been a man on a mission as he worked to get through mechanical issues with his #73 machine, attending countless practices and getting knocked down, but getting back up again.

Tonight at the Perth Motorplex it finally all fell into place as he raced away to claim the feature race win, his maiden at the 'Plex.

Brendon Marshman (Opal Finance F500 Racing) won the opening heat with Ross coming home fourth, but a win in the second heat gave him plenty of confidence, along with a pole position start in the final alongside youngster Todd Pages (Pages Motorsport) who grabbed two third place finishes in the heats to earn his spot towards the front.

Ross was determined to continue his strong night and raced away at the start of the main event from the rest of the field with Pages and Marshman doing their best to catch him.

With two laps complete the yellows were out for Isaac Arnold (Cornerstone Racing) who came to a stop in turn four, bunching the field up for a restart.
Ross wasn’t holding back on the restart, and he got away quickly, with Pages following while Marshman was now under pressure from Logan Harris (LSJ Motorsports).

Unfortunately, Harris’ race would only last another couple of laps before he was forced infield, elevating Track Championship points leader Debbie Garland (Woodys Racing) into fourth.

Back up-front, Ross was hitting his marks every time, with Pages chasing hard but unable to make any ground until lapped traffic came into play as the white flag flew seeing the gap shortened.

Marshman also closed the gap on the lead duo, the top three all racing within sight of each other but ultimately unable to make any moves, Ross going on to claim his first ever Perth Motorplex feature race win in spectacular fashion.

Pages would finish second ahead of Marshman with Garland, Dylan Sutherland (Sutho Motorsports) and Chris Della rounding out the six finishers.

Teams now have just twenty-four hours to turn their machinery around and return to the Motorplex for tomorrow’s King of Wings event.
