Formula 500s Western Australia
Great field for Powerpalooza X!
It has been a long off-season for the Formula 500's but this weekend that finally finishes, with the season opening Powerpalooza X event at the Perth Motorplex.
The Saturday evening event has attracted a solid eighteen nominations, including some of the strongest names in our sport currently.
With a field that includes Rhys Cumming, Cody Turacchio, Brendon Marshman, Matt Brown and Steven Ellement, everyone in attendance this Saturday night can be assured of action, and that's just the start!
WA Champion Rhys Cumming (RJC Motorsport) is determined to prove why he holds the #1 and certainly won't hold back this weekend as he looks to get his season off to the best possible start, but he will have plenty of challengers looking to claim the win for their own.
Cody Turacchio (Cody Turacchio Motorsports) had a nearly unstoppable season in 2024/25, with a heap of feature race wins, and two series victories to boot, a performance he would love to emulate this time around.
Brendon Marshman (Opal Finance F500 Racing) also had a great season, though will be tired of seeing the #5 tail tank, something he will be looking to rectify this season, while former State Champions David Sinagra (Sinagra Motorsport) and Thomas Davies (Thomas Davies Racing) have also nominated for the show and on their night they are more than capable of taking the win, meaning this is sure to be an epic way to kick off the season
Add in two of the veterans of the sport in Matt Brown (Matt Brown Racing/Pope Racing) and Steven Ellement (Steven Ellement Motorsport), a combined seventy-one Perth Motorplex feature race wins between them (top two in Formula 500's and thirteenth and first overall respectively in the venue statistics) and this opening night becomes a mouth-watering spectacular!
As if this wasn't enough, we also welcome back to the seat Mark House, himself a former Track champion and a five time Perth Motorplex feature race winner. Although not racing recently, House was on the sidelines and watching closely, and now the time appears to be right for him to get right back amongst it!
Of course there are a pile of other names who have thrown their hat in the ring, hoping to make a name for themselves in the new season.
Debbie Garland (Woodys Racing) has improved in leaps and bounds, some great country track performances highlighting her speed, while other up and coming names including Logan Harris (LSJ Motorsports) could well pressure the more experienced drivers. We can also add in regular drivers including Darren Rodwell, Jeff Ross and Todd Broadwood, not to mention Rodney Jamieson (Rod Jamieson Motorsport ) who looks to step up his campaign this season and we have a great roster of competitors ready to hit the track.
We also welcome back Dylan Sutherland (Sutho Motorsports), who sat out last season after an excellent rookie year and will this year joined by brother Tyler, the two car team hoping to make an impact when Tyler is ready to hit the track..
Joining Tyler in the rookie ranks will be Chris Della, Alvin McKavanagh and Isaac Arnold, all of whom are ready to test themselves on the high banks of the Perth Motorplex.
It is a showdown worthy of Powerpalooza X, so make sure you don't miss a minute of the action!
