Formula 500s Western Australia
On A Roll
Last season’s standout performer in the WA Formula 500 ranks was Cody Turacchio and with the 2025/26 schedule just weeks away from getting underway, the team is keen to build on their success.
“I think last season went fairly well, especially considering our previous couple of years where we struggled with consistency and reliability” says Cody. “My goal was to be as consistent as possible and to win my first Track Championship at the Perth Motorplex, which I did achieve along with clean sweeping the entire west coast series.”
Indeed, eleven feature race wins and another eight podium finishes meant that Turacchio was at the front more often than not.
“I think we were so successful because we spent twelve months of RND with Yoshimura to build a tailor made engine for the Perth Motorplex and also spending a huge portion of the offseason with maintenance and preparing the car In every way possible. Most of the work is always done in the shed, then it’s just a matter of putting the night together.”
Despite his success, Cody certainly doesn’t take his feature race wins for granted, working hard to make sure he can back up his performances each and every night.
“Those feature wins mean that the preparation between driver and crew has paid off. All feature races give me a different determination depending on what they represent. For example, the JA Classic is one that is very special to me as Johnny is a close family friend and I’m honoured to win an event for a man with a monumental amount of success and who continues to represent our division proudly”
Now, not content to rest on his laurels, Cody is ready for the new season to kick off.
“I plan to debut the new Gen4 D1 for opening night of the Motorplex with our latest spec Yoshimura tailored even more with the RND we gathered last season to fine tune those minor details. I plan to defend my championship in both series; and I am aiming to break the 20 lap and 8 lap, plus single lap records at the Motorplex! We will also head to South Australia to contest the 65 roses at Murray Bridge and the 2026 Australian Title at Mt Gambier.
Of course, this sort of schedule doesn’t come cheap, and Cody would like to thank his loyal supporters prior to getting underway.
“I would like to take the time to thank my crew, my existing sponsors and my new sponsors who have come on board with us for this season. I’m really looking forward to the season and we’ve done a huge amount of prep again and hope to leave no stone unturned. We want to be better than last year which is a hard feat in itself, but I feel with some new technology and a huge amount of RND, we’re willing to give it 105%. We’ve gone with a new look and you won’t miss it! See you October 18!”
